This issue comes one week after the October 23 one. The biggest story is Jay-Z's Super Bowl halftime show being made official on October 26. 50 Cent won a temporary restraining order against Tia Kemp, Lil Durk's bond hearing is set for November 4, and J. Cole said he is not retiring. Here are 11 stories, ranked by our editorial team's judgment of reach of coverage, hard numbers, scale and how central a story is to this week.

On the night of October 26 (US Eastern), the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced that Jay-Z will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl LXI. It takes place on February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Last week this was only a report; now it is confirmed.

Roc Nation is executive producing and Hamish Hamilton is directing. According to ESPN, commissioner Roger Goodell's only request was that Jay-Z perform himself whenever the moment felt right to him, and Jay-Z said, "From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey." No guests have been announced yet.

50 Cent gets a temporary restraining order against Tia Kemp; next hearing November 3

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a Miami-Dade County judge on October 26 granted a temporary injunction barring Tia Kemp from going near 50 Cent's 14-year-old son. She must stay 500 feet away, may not contact him directly or indirectly including on social media, and may not possess firearms. The order runs to November 3, when both sides return to court and a judge decides whether to extend it.

The dispute began after 50 Cent offered help to the man charged in the attack on Rick Ross's son, and Kemp answered by dragging 50 Cent's son into the exchange. 50 Cent has also filed a separate suit seeking at least $6 million over her statements. Kemp's side says 50 Cent provoked the confrontation. All of this is claims by the parties, not established fact.

Lil Durk bond bid draws letters from ex-prosecutor Kim Foxx and Michael Rubin; hearing November 4

An October 19 letter from former Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx to U.S. District Judge Michael Fitzgerald was filed as an exhibit with Lil Durk's October 27 bond request. Foxx points out that Durk spent nearly two years in custody despite being acquitted on every count at his first trial, and writes that he should be released on reasonable conditions. Businessman Michael Rubin also wrote a character letter, and JAY-Z and J. Cole are reported to have written letters too.

In September a jury found Durk not guilty on five counts, including murder-for-hire charges, but he still faces racketeering (RICO) murder-related and firearms charges and has pleaded not guilty. The bond hearing is November 4 and the next trial is set for August 30, 2027. Prosecutors oppose bond, and the same judge earlier denied release over flight-risk and public-safety concerns.

In a conversation with mentor and executive Mark Pitts and GQ writer Frazier Tharpe, released as a YouTube video, J. Cole backed away from the idea that The Fall-Off would be his last album. He said, "I don't know when the next thing is going to happen, but I'm definitely not going to say no."

He explained that while making the album he thought it might be his final project. No new album has been announced, and the report says fans should not expect one soon.

Pat McAfee and his co-hosts suggested that Drake join Ella Langley at the NFL's Thanksgiving game halftime show to perform "Solar Eclipse" with her. Drake has not commented, but he reportedly liked a repost of the clip on Instagram, which HotNewHipHop reads as a nod of approval.

Langley is set to perform at that halftime show, with "Choosin' Texas" expected on her setlist. The report considers a Drake appearance unlikely, though: the NFL would make the call, and it is unclear whether Drake would even attend a Thanksgiving game.

On No Jumper, Adam22 said that after attending Drake's 40th birthday party he got the impression that Drake and 21 Savage are no longer on good terms. His reasons were that they no longer like each other's Instagram posts and do not show up for each other, based on a conversation with someone at the party.

DJ Akademiks replied that the two are still "locked in." Neither side is a statement from the artists themselves, and none of it is confirmed.

On the October 27 episode of Joe and Jada, Fat Joe and Jadakiss discussed reports of financial trouble at New York's Hot 97. Their producer cited reports that employees were going unpaid and that staff had been furloughed. Fat Joe joked that Funkmaster Flex must be getting paid, then defended him: "Fat Joe ain't who he is if it wasn't for Funkmaster Flex."

It began with an October 14 broadcast in which Mero and Kaz criticized station leadership. That segment was removed from Hot 97's YouTube channel, and parent company MediaCo has not publicly addressed the pay or furlough claims.
